What is Creative Commons?

Creative Commons is a non-profit organization devoted to expanding the range of creative work available for others to build upon and share. Current copyright laws are generally extremely restrictive. Creative Commons has done the hard legal figuring to enable you to simply and easily express your preferences with respect to what people can do with your work. Why is it useful?

If the insights you intend to post is your original work and you want to protect your copyrights, then you can apply for a Creative Commons license on the submission page. This license allows you to publish your work online while letting others know exactly what they can and can't do with your work.

Types of Creative Common Licenses

You may choose from the six current license choices:

What do the symbols mean?

Attribution

You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your copyrighted work - and derivative works based upon it - but only if they give you credit.

Non-Commercial

You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform your work - and derivative works based upon it - but for noncommercial purposes only.

No Derivative Works

You let others copy, distribute, display, and perform only verbatim copies of your work, not derivative works based upon it.

Share-Alike

You allow others to distribute derivative works only under a license identical to the license that governs your work.

I need more information!

When you submit an insight, it will inherit the default license type you have selected. The Creative Commons site has prepared a wizard to help you choose the most appropriate license for your work.
